About Us
Local 524 is comprised of the Firefighters, Engineers, Captains, and Battalion Chiefs of the Pekin Fire Department, serving the citizens of the City of Pekin, Powerton Fire Protection District, and Brush Hill Fire Protection District in central Illinois. The Pekin Fire Department is a 56-member, career emergency response and life safety organization which provides fire suppression, fire prevention, rescue, safety education, and emergency medical services. In addition, the department is the lead department of the Tazewell County MABAS Division 42 Hazardous Materials and Technical Rescue Team.
As a member of the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) and the Associated Firefighters of Illinois (AFFI), we are also affiliated with the American Federation of Labor and the Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO).
