Safe Fire Escape House

Pekin Firefighters Local 524 owns and operates a fire safety "Safe Escape House" for use in and around the Pekin community.  This great tool was purchased through fundraising and donations from area businesses.  The mobile "house" has a simulated kitchen, living room, and bedroom.  With these rooms and realistic props, Pekin Firefighters are able to demonstrate home fire safety techniques in a realistic environment, complete with "smoke" and real smoke detectors.  The Safe Escape House makes the regular school rounds during October and Fire Safety Week.  The house can be available for other public events and is available to area fire departments as well if they wish to use it for their own fire safety programs.  To reserve the Safe Escape House, contact the Pekin Fire Department at 309-477-2386.
